La fermeture de l’hôpital Aristide Le Dantec plonge les médecins internes de l’établissement de santé dans une situation compliquée. «Nous sommes 73 médecins jetés dans la rue et qui se tournent les pouces à longueur de journée alors que les patients ont besoin de nous», dénonce Dr Assane Diouf, le président de l’Association des médecins internes et anciens internes des hôpitaux du Sénégal, au cours d’une conférence de presse.
Pire, signale Dr Diouf, il est demandé aux médecins internes de se loger à leurs propres frais alors que l’hôpital Le Dantec leur doit quatre mois d’indemnités pour la garde et un, pour le logement. «Tout le monde sait que c’est très difficile de trouver un logement à Dakar dans un délai court. Pis, les prix sont exorbitants et les bailleurs demandent trois à quatre mois de caution», pointe le président de l’Association des médecins internes.
La situation est plus compliquée pour les ressortissants de pays étrangers. «Ils n’ont pas de quoi manger, ni de logement», déplore Dr Assane Diouf. Qui signale : «A l’hôpital Fann, il n’y a qu’un seul bâtiment pour loger les internes. D’ailleurs, il est dans un état de délabrement très avancé.»
