Le Burkina Faso s’est doté de sa première usine de production pharmaceutique, spécialisée dans la production de médicaments génériques et visitée mardi par le Premier ministre Albert Ouédraogo.
Construite par des acteurs du secteur privé burkinabè et baptisée Propharm, cette usine, érigée sur 1,5 hectare dans la commune de Komsilga, en périphérie de la capitale Ouagadougou, va assurer une «disponibilité permanente des médicaments les plus demandés», selon ses promoteurs.
Certifiée par un organisme indépendant espagnol, elle va commencer par produire dans les prochains mois du paracétamol 500 mg, du phloroglucinol, un antispasmodique, ainsi qu’un «kit de sel de réhydratation orale et du zinc, pour le traitement de la diarrhée», a expliqué le directeur général de Propharm, Armel Coéfé.
Selon le Premier ministre Albert Ouédraogo, «c’est une usine importante, dans la mesure où elle va contribuer à mettre à la disposition de nos populations des médicaments à moindre coût».
«Notre capacité de production, à l’heure actuelle, satisfait le besoin local et résout le problème de rupture drastique», a-t-il ajouté, précisant que la liste des molécules à produire va s’allonger, en particulier «avec la production de médicaments pour la prise en charge du paludisme».
«Pendant la période de la Covid-19, ces questions étaient prégnantes et tout le monde avait reconnu la nécessité de développer une production locale de médicaments. Il s’agit aussi d’une entreprise locale, ce qui contribue à développer une économie résiliente», s’est-il félicité.
Selon Coéfé, l’usine est en train de finaliser une dernière étape, l’inspection de l’Agence nationale de régulation pharmaceutique sur les lots produits, afin d’obtenir les autorisations de mise sur le marché dans les mois à venir.
