Dans une de ses croustillantes chroniques, Mody Niang a… osé critiquer la «Première dame» Marième Faye Sall. L’épouse du chef de l’Etat est accusée par l’écrivain de faire du cinéma. «Ces derniers jours, elle a occupé la Une de nombreux médias, y compris des médias du privé qui annonçaient sa visite à Grand Yoff. Elle a atterri finalement à Yoff et, semble-t-il, à Ouakam. Ses déplacements annoncés ont le même objectif déclaré : ‘’voler au secours des sinistrés, les soulager’’». Dénonçant la com’ faite autour de ces déplacements de la «Première dame», Mody Niang poursuit dans sa chronique du 4 octobre dernier : «Comme de coutume, elle a été à Yoff hier, flanquée de ses hommes et dames de compagnie ainsi que des médias et, en particulier, de la télévision « nationale », plutôt « républicaine ». A l’occasion, des personnes du troisième âge ont eu droit à des consultations grâce à son « hôpital mobile ». Beaucoup de médicaments ont été distribués dans la localité. Ses « œuvres sociales » ont été alors largement chantées. Des médias ont poussé l’outrecuidance jusqu’à l’appeler « Sœur Teresa« .» Et il n’en fallait pas plus pour susciter l’ire des souteneurs de la «Première dame». Beaucoup d’entre eux ont cru bon de prendre leur plume pour apporter la réplique à l’impertinent Mody Niang. Les uns le traitant de «vieux retraité» n’ayant rien à faire, les autres de «méchant qui manque d’élégance» parce que s’attaquant à une… femme. Mais Niang ne doit pas être surpris par ces attaques. Lui qui écrit dans la même chronique : «Sans doute, les « vuvuzela » de ladite première dame vont-ils me tomber copieusement dessus, en me traitant de tous les noms d’oiseaux.» Voilà ! C’est donc fait. Les «vuvuzela» de la «Première dame» ont été au rendez-vous. Et ils ont frappé.
En fait, la chronique de Mody Niang et les répliques servies par ceux qu’il appelle les «vuvuzela» de Marième Faye Sall reposent une question toute simple : A-t-on le droit de critiquer la «Première dame». Cette question relance le débat sur le statut même de la «First lady» dans notre République. En réponse à la chronique de Mody Niang, Papa Mahawa Diouf de l’Alliance pour république (Apr) écrit, dans un texte publié dans la presse, que «Marième Faye Sall, est d’abord véritablement la Première dame des femmes, et cette First lady sénégalaise, incarne parfaitement les valeurs et les normes de la femme sénégalaise». Et d’ajouter : «Mais Diantre ! Pourquoi Madame Marième Faye Sall devrait-elle s’excuser d’être sénégalaise avec une approche beaucoup tropicale de son rôle et de disposer d’une communication efficace ?» Le mot est lâché. Marième Faye Sall dispose donc d’une «communication efficace». Alors reconnaissons-le : si elle ne fait pas de la comédie comme l’écrit Mody Niang, la «Première dame» fait de la com’. Quand elle vole donc au secours des sinistrés, elle fait aussi de la com’ avec l’objectif à peine voilé de chercher des électeurs pour son mari. A partir de cet instant, on doit reconnaître à chaque Sénégalais le droit de critiquer ce que fait la «Première dame». Et puis, comparaison pour comparaison, la «Première dame» Marième Faye Sall est plus proche d’une Simone Gbagbo que d’une Elisabeth Diouf par exemple. Elle est militante de l’Apr et son implication dans la conduite des affaires confiées à son mari ne fait l’ombre d’aucun doute. Le ministre Mbagnick Ndiaye l’a déclaré publiquement. Il n’a jamais été démenti.
Il s’y ajoute qu’il n’a jamais été prouvé que l’argent mis à la disposition de la fondation «Servir le Sénégal» ne vient pas de fonds publics. Les Sénégalais n’ont-ils pas le droit de savoir comment leur argent est utilisé ? D’autant que quelle que soit la noblesse des actes qu’elle pose, Marième Faye Sall fait de la politique. Elle s’attend donc à des dividendes… électoraux. Adam Smith avait raison de rappeler : «Il ne faut pas compter sur la bienveillance du boulanger ou du boucher pour nous fournir du pain ou de la viande, mais sur leur désir de gagner de l’argent.» Marième Faye Sall vole au secours des sinistrés parce qu’elle désire gagner de l’électorat pour son mari. C’est de bonne guerre. Mais la critiquer n’a rien d’inélégant.
