L’attaquant sénégalais, l’Algérien Riyad Mahrez et le Gabonais Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Dortmund, Allemagne) sont arrivés en tête du vote des sélectionneurs ou directeurs techniques nationaux des associations nationales affiliées à la CAF, du Comité des médias, du comité technique et du comité de football, ainsi que d’un groupe d’experts des médias
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang avait été élu meilleur footballeur africain 2015.
Pour le joueur africain de l’année (basé en Afrique), le gardien de but ougandais est en lice avec l’attaquant zimbabwéen, Khama Billiat, et le milieu de terrain zambien, Rainford Kalaba.
Les lauréats seront connus le 5 janvier prochain lors d’un gala prévu à Abuja, au Nigeria.
