En poste depuis novembre 2018, il a été reconduit pour deux saisons pleines plus une 3e année optionnelle, en novembre 2021. «L’équipe a gagné en confiance, en maturité. En suivant Omar au quotidien, la décision qui mûrissait s’est logiquement imposée. On sait enfin que c’est en mettant des hommes de valeur longtemps en place qu’on obtient des résultats», jubilait le Directeur général de Sochaux, Samuel Laurent.
«Le Fc Sochaux a toujours été ma priorité. Je suis très heureux de pouvoir encore m’inscrire dans le travail qu’on a engagé pour aller chercher les objectifs, pour aller chercher ce qu’on souhaite tous pour le club et la région. Deux ans, c’était bien pour à la fois se projeter et concrétiser. Jusqu’ici nous avons pu poser les bases, les fondations d’une équipe solide. Il faut maintenant passer au cran d’après… », répondait à son tour, le technicien sénégalais.
En toute quiétude, Daf peut alors bosser tranquillou. Cette stabilité dans l’environnent du club porte actuellement ses fruits. Car, Sochaux n’est jamais si proche de rejoindre la Ligue 1 française.

Actuels 4ème avec 67 points, les Doubistes peuvent toujours rêver de cette accession dans l’élite. Ils sont à 4 unités de la deuxième place, synonyme de montée. L’équipe compte 67 points après 36 journées, pour 19 victoires, 10 nuls et seulement 7 défaites. En plus de 45 buts marqués et 31 encaissés. Sacrée performance ! Omar Daf sera en concurrence avec Thierry Laurey (Paris Fc), Philippe Montanier (Toulouse Fc), Olivier Pantaloni (Ac Ajaccio) et Didier Tholot (Pau Fc).
