Le prêche, c’est avant tout une opération de communication. C’est sans doute ce qu’ont compris de nombreux prêcheurs qui ont vite fait d’adopter les nouveaux moyens de communication. Il est ainsi fréquent de voir nombre de ses prêcheurs gérer leurs propres pages Facebook, comptes Twitter… Certains ont même des sites Internet, avec parfois des chaînes de télévision. Le Sénégal n’échappe pas à cette réalité. Outre les émissions qu’ils animent sur les chaînes de radio et/ou de télévision de la place, les «Oustaz» sénégalais sont aussi présents sur Facebook, Instagram, Twitter… C’est qu’ils ont compris que leurs discours étant pour l’essentiel, destinés aux plus jeunes, il faut donc trouver ces derniers sur leur propre terrain. Ce qui n’est pas une mauvaise chose en soi. Loin de là.
Toutefois, il faudra remarquer que de plus en plus, les prêcheurs –du moins certains d’entre eux- ne se suffisent plus de leurs émissions à la télé ou à la radio. Ils sont devenus de vraies vedettes. Adulés, ils sont invités à toutes les émissions. On les voit sur toutes les chaînes de télévision. Surtout pendant ce mois de ramadan. Et souvent, ils partagent les plateaux de télévision avec des personnalités du monde du spectacle, de la musique, du sport, de la politique… Bref des gens dont les activités sont souvent données en contre-exemple dans les prêches. D’ailleurs, au cours de ces émissions, ces personnalités dont les activités sont dénoncées par les mêmes prêcheurs font tout pour les amener à donner un caractère licite à leur gagne-pain. Et c’est de bonne guerre. En réalité, dans ce genre d’émissions télé, les prêcheurs sont les seuls perdants. Puisqu’ils entrent, malgré eux, dans une tendance à la peopolisation de la religion. Résultat : beaucoup d’entre eux ne sont plus pris au sérieux. On les écoute pour rire comme on peut le faire avec Sa Ndiogou ou Kouthia. Pendant ce temps, les télévisions gagnent de l’audience et le discours religieux se désacralise. Pis, au cours de ces émissions, le discours est plus destructeur que constructif. Plus rien ne semble nous gêner, rien ne nous choque. Beaucoup de Sénégalais ont ainsi assisté, avec amusement, à ces scènes de dispute entre religieux par médias interposés. On ne cherche plus à convaincre l’autre par des arguments solides tirés des textes sacrés. On cherche plutôt à faire mal, à montrer que l’autre ne sait pas ce qu’il dit. Pourtant, aucun d’entre eux n’ose dénoncer les émissions diffusées sur leurs propres chaînes de télé et qui n’attirent que par l’évocation explicite du sexe.
Cependant, cette tendance à la peopolisation n’est pas le seul fait des «oustaz». De nombreux marabouts ont jeté à la poubelle cette humilité et cette discrétion qui ont fait la force de leurs parents et grands-parents. Ils préfèrent les pages «people» des journaux et se comportent en «jet–setteur». Et se vantent d’avoir comme amis : des lutteurs, des chanteurs, des danseurs (ou danseuses). Pis, ils se glorifient d’avoir prié pour la réussite du concert ou de la soirée dansante d’un tel ou tel autre artiste. Que l’on se comprenne bien. Il ne s’agit pas ici de dénoncer le comportement ou les activités d’une quelconque personne. Il s’agit juste de dire halte à ce mélange de genres qui brouille le discours religieux en plus de le désacraliser. Les artistes ou ceux qui comme eux ont choisi cette activité ont le droit de danser ou chanter quand ils veulent et comme ils veulent tant qu’ils ne violent pas lois de la République. Seulement, pour la cohérence de leurs discours, les religieux devraient être plus regardant sur leurs fréquentations et sur les émissions auxquelles ils sont conviés.
