C’est peu dire que le leader de l’APR est obnubilé par Ousmane SONKO. Tramé pour qu’il fasse l’effet d’un feu de paille, le phénomène PASTEF fait tache d’huile et commence à annihiler le plan que Macky SALL ne peut dérouler sans avoir effacé le nom d’Ousmane SONKO des listes électorales. Si le maître du « je » veut briguer un troisième mandat pourquoi il s’engagerait pour une amnistie Khalifa SALL et Karim WADE ?
« La décision de supprimer le poste de Premier ministre en avril 2019, ce n’était pas une erreur. J’avais voulu, après sept ans d’exercice de la fonction présidentielle, tester la gouvernance directe (…) On a vu toutes ces crises qui ont été annoncées, je ne peux pas, en même temps, m’occuper du Sénégal au quotidien ». Ces deux dernières phrases du président SALL constituent une raison suffisante pour le destituer. Mais, puisqu’au Sénégal, le leader de l’APR, dans les habits d’un monarque, est un habitué des énormités, celles-ci sont également passées sans susciter l’indignation collective. Si ce que Macky SALL dit est souvent multiplié par zéro, ce qu’il s’apprête à faire, par contre, va captiver toutes les attentions.

Si le leader de l’APR se donne tant de mal, s’il est aussi déterminé à aller au bout de cette affaire, quitte à y laisser des plumes, c’est qu’il a été pris à son propre jeu.
La reconfiguration de l’espace politique sénégalais que Macky SALL a lancée en 2012 a taillé une place de choix aux Libéraux qui tiennent les rênes du pouvoir tout en incarnant l’opposition. Avant l’avènement du leader de l’APR, il y avait trois grands pôles : les Libéraux, souvent alliés à ceux qui se font appeler Communistes (PIT, LD, AJ), faisaient face aux Socialistes. Macky SALL et Abdoulaye WADE ont entrepris de les substituer en trois autres pôles : le triangle libéral. En 2012, le leader de Rewmi a passé plus de temps à la place de l’indépendance à dénoncer la candidature de Me WADE que chez les électeurs qui écoutaient Macky SALL partit à leur rencontre. En 2019, Abdoulaye WADE « perturbait » pendant qu’Idrissa SECK et Macky SALL parlaient aux électeurs. Ceux qui s’étonnaient de voir un homme dont on dit qu’il est né « après les indépendances » s’entourer de Moustapha NIASSE, d’Ousmane Tanor DIENG, d’Ahmet DANSOKHO etc., ne comprenaient pas que c’était le meilleur moyen pour Macky SALL de bousiller leurs appareils politiques. Maire de la capitale, présenté comme l’héritier du PS, Khalifa SALL, qui a étalé ses ambitions, devint assurément un obstacle.
Pour détacher Khalifa SALL des populations dakaroises afin de le mettre à mort politiquement sans coup férir, il a fallu également booster la popularité d’un autre leader. Comme, en 1974, quand le président SENGHOR acceptait la création du PDS. Mamadou DIA, qui sortait de prison, après 12 ans de détention, ne devait pas être perçu comme la seule alternative politique crédible. Avec les affaires d’Ousmane SONKO et de Khalifa SALL, c’est l’effet inverse qui était recherché. Avant d’engager des poursuites contre l’alors maire de Dakar, le régime s’est acharné sur le leader de PASTEF focalisant l’attention sur lui. Macky SALL signe le décret le radiant de la fonction publique et engage ses partisans dans une opération de lynchage médiatique qui a placé l’ancien inspecteur des Impôts et Domaines au-devant de la scène. Certainement informé des imprudences d’Ousmane SONKO, Macky SALL et conseillers se sont dit qu’ils pourraient l’écarter au moment voulu.
Seulement, avant le temps voulu, Ousmane SONKO dont le discours s’écarte des chimères que les hommes politiques ont habituées aux Sénégalais, s’est érigé en actionnaire majoritaire de l’opinion publique en plus de s’être construit une carapace que les flèches de Macky SALL ne réussissent pas à percer.
Une impuissance qui révulse le leader de l’APR dont la porte de sortie qu’il aménage est bloquée par Ousmane SONKO qui met en péril le triangle libéral.
