Malgré son exil sans fin au Qatar, Karim Wade, qui se définit comme le candidat du peuple, se dit toujours déterminé à prendre part et surtout à remporter le scrutin présidentiel dont le 1e tour est fixé au 24 février 2019. «L’engagement sans faille, la détermination et l’enthousiasme dont ont fait preuve, en particulier, les militants, les sympathisants du Pds et les mouvements de soutien ont renforcé ma détermination à les conduire à la victoire au soir du 24 février 2019», écrit-il dans ses vœux de Tabaski. Karim Wade fait allusion aux dernières manifestations de l’opposition. «Face à cette volonté de confiscation de nos droits démocratiques et de nos libertés, j’ai particulièrement apprécié la participation massive des Sénégalais aux dernières manifestations de l’opposition qui mène depuis plus de six ans un combat pour que le Sénégal retrouve son label de vitrine démocratique de l’Afrique», poursuit-il. «J’espère que Macky Sall saura décrypter cet ultime message du peuple qui ne veut ni de son parrainage ni de l’élimination de ses adversaires politiques par son clan de juges à ses ordres. Il doit comprendre que sa tentative de coup d’Etat électoral ne passera pas et se comporter enfin en homme courageux qui n’a pas peur d’affronter ses adversaires dans une compétition ouverte, loyale et transparente. Bien évidemment, un tel scrutin ne devra pas être organisé par Aly Ngouille Ndiaye, son ministre de l’Intérieur déjà impliqué dans les plus gros scandales économiques et financiers qui ont marqué son septennat», indique encore le candidat déclaré du Pds. Lequel candidat du Pds, qui n’a pas indiqué la date de son retour au bercail, alors que nous sommes à six mois de la présidentielle, compte ratisser au-delà de sa formation politique pour venger son père et battre le candidat Macky Sall. «Dans la perspective de cette élection, j’entends, au-delà de ma formation politique, rassembler tous ceux qui veulent restaurer la réussite par le mérite, l’effort et le travail, ceux qui refusent une justice aux ordres et les politiques budgétaires de l’incompétent Macky Sall qui, tout en étant incapable de répondre aux besoins de base de son peuple (l’eau, l’électricité, la santé et l’éducation), trouve le moyen de creuser la dette et les déficits, conduisant ainsi inexorablement le Sénégal vers un chaos économique, un chaos social et un chaos politique».
Il compte également sur la situation socio-économique difficile pour triompher en 2019. Car, d’après lui, la fête de cette année s’est déroulée au Sénégal dans un contexte de «crise sans précédent», marqué par les pénuries d’eau, le retour des délestages, la fuite vers l’étranger de nos valeureux frères et sœurs dont beaucoup disparaissent en mer Méditerranée, la famine qui frappe durement certaines régions, la baisse du pouvoir d’achat, les scandales économiques et financiers, une crise politique qui augure des lendemains électoraux difficiles, susceptibles de mettre en danger la stabilité de notre pays à laquelle nous sommes si attachés et que les prédécesseurs de Macky Sall ont su préserver durant leurs mandats.
Convaincu de sa victoire, Wade-fils égrène un chapelet de promesses. Surtout, il promet de ne pas répéter l’erreur de 2012. Enfin, Karim Wade tacle sévèrement le président de la République. «A l’épreuve de l’exercice du pouvoir par Macky Sall, sa famille et son clan, nous devons constater que le Sénégal s’est trompé en mettant à sa tête un ‘’beau parleur, ignorant et incompétent’’ qui a renié tous ses engagements et qui n’a nullement l’intention d’honorer les nouvelles promesses qu’il s’apprête à faire avec son cynisme habituel», assène le candidat du Pds. «En février 2019, nous serons à la croisée des chemins et, pour ce rendez-vous crucial pour l’avenir de notre pays, nous devons bien avoir à l’esprit que faire des promesses de réduire la durée de son mandat, de baisser le coût de la vie, de privilégier la patrie au détriment du parti, de promouvoir une gestion sobre et vertueuse, de ne jamais nommer son frère à des fonctions étatiques et de consolider la démocratie est une chose, mais que tenir ses engagements et conformer ses actes à ses discours est autre chose», conclut-il.
